Call to Action: Write your NC Reps TODAY to Support H418: K-5 Visual & Performing Arts Requirement

ACT NOW, during the last week of Arts in Our Schools Month, to urge your NC General Assembly representatives to support a K-5 Performing and Visual Arts Requirement to empower every NC student’s constitutional right to a sound basic education.

H418 would direct school boards to provide all kindergarten through grade five students with instruction in both Performing and Visual Arts that aligns with the Standard Course of Study and meets the following criteria: 

• Occurs at least one day out of every five instructional days.
• Is taught by a licensed performing/visual arts instructor.
• Instructional sessions are at least 30 consecutive minutes.
• Classes shall be no larger than the maximum classroom size for each grade.

Take two minutes to write to your NC state representatives and urge them to support the K-5 Performing and Visual Arts Requirement to empower every North Carolina student for success.
