Criteria for the Teacher of the Year includes:
- 3 Years Active Membership in NCMEA
- At least 5 years of teaching experience in North Carolina
- A nomination by an NCMEA member through a letter of recommendation, citing the merits of the nominee
The letter of recommendation must include professional memberships, experience, educational background, past teaching experience, church job(s) if applicable, etc.
