The Center for American Progress is conducting a study examining the experiences of early career teachers to understand the factors that lead to their attrition and identify practice and policy recommendations to support and retain these novice educators. Retaining early career teachers is a growing challenge. These teachers are leaving the profession at higher rates than their experienced colleagues. During the 2022-2023 school year, 30 percent of new teachers (< 3 years) left their school and 26 percent of those within their first 3 - 7 years of teaching also vacated the teaching profession during this time. This study will survey teachers to learn about the experiences and factors that have contributed to or hindered their persistence in the field.
Please help to distribute this survey to current educators who identify as an early-career classroom teacher (<5 years teaching experience). The survey is completely voluntary and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. The deadline to complete is March 28.
