Every two years, members of the National Association for Music Education cast their votes for new leaders to set the direction in carrying out the association’s Strategic Plan. On February 12, 2020, the elections concluded with our very own James G. Daugherty becoming the new Southern Division President-Elect.
“This is a tremendous honor and I am grateful for this servant-leader opportunity,” said Daugherty. “Music educators make such a difference in the lives of students every single day. I’m so thankful for every colleague in this most noble and critical profession.”
NCMEA would like to congratulate James and all of the all the candidates who took part in this process.
And the winners are:
- Scott Sheehan – 2020-2022 National President-Elect
- Richard Tengowski – North Central Division President-Elect
- Scott Hedgecock – Western Division President-Elect
- James G. Daugherty – Southern Division President-Elect
Additionally, NAfME members adopted a bylaw amendment to expand the definition of Collegiate membership to include students who are not enrolled, or are not yet enrolled, in music teacher education programs.
