Susan Heiserman comes to NCMEA with over 15 years of experience working in nonprofit arts organizations, most recently as Executive Director of another statewide arts service organization. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano & Coaching from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Music in Accompanying/Coaching from East Carolina University, and a Bachelor of Music Education/Music Therapy degree from Wartburg College in Iowa. As a resident of Cary, Susan enjoys serving her local arts community in board and volunteer roles for organizations such as the Cary-Apex Youth Choir and the Town of Cary Cultural Arts Committee.

Mark joined the NCMEA Staff on July 1, 2017. Mark’s background as a Professional Technical Writer/Editor/Interviewer with accomplishments in converting technical content into everyday language will bring a consistency to NCMEA’s communications with its membership across all platforms. Mark has a B.A. in English from NC State.
