For NCMEA President Carol Earnhardt, the pandemic has been one of her hardest challenges as an educator. In a recent article for EdNC.org, she spoke about the moment last year when her life changed:
“I felt — along with many of my colleagues — like a brand new teacher. All I had known and felt comfortable doing was redefined in one day. My world was flipped upside down.”
The resiliency of music teachers across the state of North Carolina was challenged when life as we knew it shut down. Earnhardt highlights the creative ways music educators overcame these challenges as teachers continued to serve their students remotely driven by the community that was forged by years together in the music room.
